The subject of bioinformatics is fundamentally about application of computer-based approaches in order to help understand biological processes. Modern high throughput technologies such as genome sequencing, next-generation sequencing and microarray profiling are widely applied to biological problems and generate huge amounts of data. The aim of this course is to equip students with a strong background in biology with the skills and tools necessary to make sense of the wealth of available biological data.
